Outbound Marketing

Term from the CRM Lexicon

Definition

Outbound marketing encompasses traditional marketing methods that involve active customer outreach. Direct mail allows companies to send offers and information specifically to potential customers to gain their attention. Cold calling is another method where potential customers are approached without prior interaction to create sales opportunities.

Email marketing is a cost-effective way to communicate directly with existing and potential customers and promote offers.

Through targeted email campaigns, companies can, for example, communicate their messages directly to their target audience, thereby increasing the chances of a positive response. Such emails can be very effective but should be strategically considered under the term Marketing Automation.

Outbound marketing, when used correctly, can be an effective complement to inbound strategies.
